Discovery Phase
Stakeholder Analysis & Communication Strategy
I started with identifying who the internal stakeholders for this project would be and placed each stakeholder in a Power-Interest Quadrant, allowing me to identify their decision-making power and interest in this particular project.
After placing each stakeholder, I came up with a communication strategy for each to make sure I have a plan for team alignment as we progress through the development of new features.
Product Principles
I had a brainstorming session with friends to come up with product principles (a set of principles that describe the team’s core values and vision for the product).
Moving forward, all new product features should follow one or more of these principles and should NOT go against any of these principles.
Problem Statement
Next, I identified the following:
What problem should I focus on solving?
Who is affected by the problem?
Why is this problem occurring?
And came up with the problem statement for this project. This will be the issue we are trying to solve and come up with new features for.
Research Plan & Research Timeline
Before conducting research, I picked two assumptions to focus on out of four provided. Then, I made a research plan focusing on these two assumptions. The research plan includes the following:
Research Statement
Research Questions
Results Criteria
Research Methods
As well as a timeline that shows who is responsible for what by when.
Research Findings Analysis & Insights Creation
For this project, research results were provided by CareerFoundry via graphs and charts (pictured below), so I segmented and cohorted the results to organize the information provided by the graphs and charts.
After segmenting and cohorting the research results, I came up with insights that summarize the key points of the results.
Insights Prioritization
After creating insights, I prioritized the insights using the R.I.C.E (Reach, Impact Confidence, Effort) Scoring Model in order to focus our development on one insight.
